"Father of PlayStation" to be honored with 
Lifetime Achievement Award at GDC 2014.


Ken Kutaragi, former CEO of the Sony Computer Entertaintment, will be honored with a 'Lifetime Achievement Award' at the 14th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards.

Kutaragi is well known as the " Father of PlayStation ". His creations include the SPC700 sound chip for Nintendo's Super NES console, and Sony's first video game console, the PlayStation.


Kutaragi will be honoured by PlayStation 4"s lead architect, Mark Cerny. The Game developer conference staff today announced, 


"We're honored to have Kutaragi-san present at the event, and heartened to recognize a true visionary that helped bring about an unparalleled era of growth in the industry," General Manager of all GDC events Meggan Scavio said.

Kutaragi remained with the brand until the launch of the PlayStation 3, and soon later took the chair of CEO and  honourary chairman at SCE.

The committee presenting the award are the panel of advisors including Mark Cerny and Valve's Doug Lombardi.

The Game Developers Choice Awards will be held on March 19 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.
